What’s in the water at the ‘Rivers of Hope’?
Answering a few questions about the new ‘Rangers of Hope’, the MTV series from actor-director Rob Lowe, and the world’s most dangerous swimming hole, this week’s edition of ‘Top Gear’ featured a look at the pool, which was recently built on a remote stretch of the Bering Sea.
In a special episode entitled ‘The Best Pool Ever’, host James May visited the facility and was given the chance to swim his own pool for a brief time.
As well as swimming, May also took part in a game of ‘Rugby Pool’.
While the latter is a popular game with celebrities in the UK, May’s pool proved to be a lot more dangerous than he had expected.
The pool is actually a giant water slide with two ‘spaceships’ suspended in it, as well as a giant ‘pool’ that rises out of the pool.
While there were only a handful of other guests, many of them were not prepared to wait in line for the time being, and a large number of them had to be escorted from the building before they could go in.
The experience was certainly not pleasant for anyone, and May told MTV News that the experience was a bit like watching a movie with a lot of actors and stunt performers involved.
“It was really exciting and a bit of a roller coaster,” he said.
“I had a bit more fun than I thought I would because the pool was pretty impressive.”
The show’s crew did take a moment to speak to May before he entered the water.
“They were saying, ‘This is your new home’,” May said, as the crew walked him around the complex.
“And I thought, ‘Oh, wow.
This is like home.
It’s actually quite nice’.” The pool’s size is something that could prove to be quite difficult for most to manage, as they were told it would take up to four people to work in the facility, which is situated in the middle of a remote lake.
The water was also reportedly heated at high temperatures in the hot sun, and there are reportedly no safety equipment in place to help keep guests safe.
However, there is one piece of safety equipment that the show does have.
In case of emergency, guests can get in touch with a member of the public and have them take them to the nearest swimming pool, where they can use a hot water bottle.
“If you need help, if there’s an emergency, you can just call our helpline,” a spokesperson from the Boring Spa said.
A spokesperson for the B&Q Fitness Centre confirmed that it had been contacted by Lowe about the safety of the facility’s swimming pool.
The spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident in question, but we do not have any further comment at this time.”
“Top Gear” airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m.
ET on BBC One.
